Hi Everyone...
We've been busy over this holiday weekend. As many of you know, holiday
times always seem to see an increase in trauma in regards to family
issues. This year is no different. The students from religious schools
we support with are no exception. But we are working hard to provide the
support necessary.
This is the first time in five years that we have extended our Fall
Outreach trip past Thanksgiving. We are happy that we have been able to
continue our trip four weeks longer than before.
In addition to the outreach work and the educational forums, we are, of
course, waist deep in the situation with the Diocese of Camden NJ.
Another press release will be distributed in a few hours about this issue
so be watching for this.
ALSO, you will be receiving an announcement about a letter writing
campaign which will begin on our HeartStrong website on monday morning
(11/27/06). It's a great opportunity for all of you to show support for
this church as well as challenge the actions of the Knights of Columbus
and the Bishop of Camden. More on that when the letters are available for
you to sign electronically on Monday.
I am including in this email, a post on our guestbook from the minister of
the UU church in South Jersey Shore where all of this began.
You can also view his post on the HeartStrong website guestbook.
Rev. George E. Blair III
As minister of the church which was subject to eviction, I can only say a
heartfelt thank you to you for your part in causing the crisis in our
church. Our church continues to be on the front lines in insisting on
civil rights of all individuals, especially committed to the rights of
GLBT and all others to form the romantic relationships which fulfill them.
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Jersey Shore
PS: Any leads on a good meeting place? Our convictions have made us
homeless! Love to you and yours.
